August’s Bock was made collaboratively with the German-based brewery Gold Ochsen and was named after both breweries past presidents from five generations ago. Both breweries are still family-owned and have almost 570 years of combined brewing experience. The older Gold Ochsen Brewery was founded in Ulm, Germany, in 1597, and the younger August Schell Brewery was founded in its Sister City, New Ulm, in 1860. August’s Bock was brewed in the blond doppelbock style (literally “double bock”). It is deep golden amber in color and extremely rich in flavor. It has an assertive hop bitterness and a robust malt backbone. Polaris dry hops add a unique hoppy character and aroma. It is a very full-bodied beer whose strength is masked by its easy drinkability.
